A Single Light

Huggles

What: Huggles is a program of A Single Light designed to make blankets out of fleece for children providing needed or additional support, through the use of a warm blanket, while they are going through tough times.

Requirements: Please bring a sharp pair of scissors and masking tape. No sewing is required in order to volunteer for Huggles; however, in order to cover the costs of the program a $10.00 donation is recommended.

Time: Huggles takes place on the second Thursday of each month starting at 7pm - 9 pm.

Location: Diabetes Society locatd at 1165 Lincoln Ave Suite 200, San Jose, CA, 95126.

Volunteer Orientation

What: General overview of what A Single Light is, our programs, your role as a volunteer, and the volunteers next steps in order to volunteer with ASL. Every volunteer must attend an orientation before they can volunteer with our organization.

Requirements: Every volunteer must be 16 years or older. If the volunteer is under 16 years of age special permission may be given to volunteer with A Single Light on a cases by cases basis.

Time: 10:00 AM -12:00 PM on the second Saturday of every month.

Location: Santa Clara Library located at 2635 Homestead Rd, Santa Clara, CA 95051 in the Sycamore Room (all the way to the back right of the library)

Meet Up Social Event

 
What: This group is meant so you can meet others in your local area who are cancer patients, cancer survivors, caregivers, or their friends and loved ones. It is to designed to help you make friends that understand your pain, gather strength and hope from one another or from one another's shared experiences. Because of this meet up group you will hopefully call the people you meet your family, your support, your hope for change to end the disease. Please visit the website for more information.

Time: Time will depend on what we are doing; however, the social meet up will always meet on the 4th Saturday of the month.Please let the meet up website at meetup.com (search for san jose cancer group) for details.
